Although the war was over, Amanda Hartman was no longer convinced peace would prevail after overhearing a mental
communication exchange between two Ja women. With millions of lives at stake, both human and alien, she confesses to her surrogate parent Morga, a Gray, that she heard part of an exchange by the very people they recently made peace with and how concerned she was by it.
“Morga, I have overheard a lot of conversations. I know I don’t always know their full meaning, but I do know what that
conversation and the way they looked at me meant. I know what I feel in my heart.”
“Which is?” Morga asked.
“They were talking about the Freedom Celebration. May I share their words with you?”
“Yes, of course.” He allowed her thoughts to enter his.
Amanda mentally transferred their words, “And they truly think it’s over,” along with the image of their evil smiles.
The joy of his newfound freedom faded from Morga’s thoughts as this revelation sent a cold chill through his soul.
